| | surprisingly quiet hum of traffic | ] | Tomorrow our time in the UK ends; my brother and I fly out for the US via Toronto (where we sit on our thumbs for four hours before the connection flight; the departure time keeps being put later and later). The flight leaves Heathrow at 12:05 pm. You'd think that would allow us to get up at a reasonable hour, wouldn't you? Oh no. Air Canada says, Check in by 9 am. Which we will try to do, because their on-line check-in system has rejected us. Sods. To have the best possible chance of an acceptable seat, we get there as early as we can. So we rise by 6:30 am.
At least I don’t have to worry about fitting in breakfast. Since Monday night I've had a tummy bug (you don't want the TMI on that), and while it’s a lot better, it's not quite gone yet.
Tuesday, I ate two oat cakes and a small glass of apple juice: bad idea. Wednesday, a quarter slice of plain brown (packet) bread: okay. This morning: the rest of the slice: apparently okay. This afternoon: half a dozen potato crisps (crazy, I know): paid for that. I had my first outing going to Sainsbury's for more oat cakes to take home (can't find any there) and bought essential salts replacement stuff. I hope it works, because it tastes disgusting. The stuff I left at home is far superior in convenience of making up, for a start. The pharmacist was kind, though: he gave me a 200 ml bottle to mix the stuff up in. See me doing this in turbulence on the plane... Luckily I don't feel hungry. More brown bread tomorrow, I suppose.
I have lots of wonderful things to look back on (and hundreds of photos to review). I didn’t get out since we checked into our hotel room until this evening, but I've spent parts of the last two days with a bunch of Snupiners (Snupineers? We discussed this), and had a most enjoyable time. I wasn't even very quiet – except that I couldn't drabble (TMI causes brain fade), though I could play Telegrams okay. They are now at Snape's Pub having a good time, lucky bastards. They were good company.
Now for the States and, I suspect, an enormous change in the weather. Hot on the East Coast, yes? I can put my jeans away and get out my light summer skirts. I believe we will have net access in New York and LA, if not in Chicago, so see you all on the net! |

| Avatar: Season 3 |
[Jul. 24th, 2008|12:36 pm] |
Is it just me or is season 3 seem a bit...rushed? The last episode I watched last night, before my college stuff, which I'll talk about later, was The Beach.
What happened to the building of tension? What happened to character development? It's like it's turned into a '90's after school special! Especially the episode, "The Beach." I know it was meant to be revealing, but I found it annoying. The fire nation characters just whined the entire time. How their lives sucked and how they're jealous of Ty Lee because she gets the boys... It was a teenage soap opera! Mommy didn't love me, I got no attention at home, my parents were too strict... This is not what I want to see! Although, it was kinda nice to see Zuko behaving like a real teenager. He lets Mai order him around, it must be love! And Azula being all scary to the boys was funny.
The only funny quote I could find: A cyclops guy attacks Team Avatar in the middle of the night, and Aang has to distract them to let the others get away. After he joins back up to them: Aang: (out of breath) I'm okay... Toph: Well, that was random.
I love Toph, seriously. |

I had seriously forgotten just how funny Avatar: The Last Airbender is! I missed all of season three except for the finale, so I'm watching it now. This makes me giggle hard into the early morning hours!
Don't make me use my moon powers on you!

| The Dark Knight and Cold Case |
[Jul. 23rd, 2008|10:23 pm] |
I'm not really a fan of Batman in general, but I desperately want to see The Dark Knight. Unfortunately, I have no free time to go see it yet so I'm just hoping I'll be able to catch it before it goes out of theaters.
Right now I'm watching (well, listening to while I'm writing this) an episode of Cold Case and it occurs to me that I love nearly all the music played on the show. Plus, it always fits in well with what's going on in the episodes. Whoever is responsible for choosing the music for Cold Case does an amazing job. |

| Allergy question... |

| | uncomfortable | ] | I got a new allergy medication last Thursday. It worked wonderfully for a while (I was even able to sleep!), except that it didn't last the full 12 hours that it promised. Which was ok. Until yesterday, when it only worked for five hours and I was stuck at work without my meds (which were at home) and suffering. Sneezing, itchy eyes, phlegm, the whole she-bang. And today is acting the same as yesterday, except I have my meds in my purse just in case.
Here's the question: Should I go to the doctor to tell him it's not working, or wait it out for a couple of days to see if it's just a bad day? |

mmm, pattison...you can come into my chamber of secrets ANYTIME...*licks manibrow* mrawr <3
speaking of. u.ho came over yesterday and she's on a robert pattison high, thanks to a certain Twilight movie and the power of beautiful manpires, so we watched Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. it was GREAT FUN. i made a smashing gred/forge 69 joke that i can't repeat here...it just won't work (and it really wasn't that funny anyway--just UDDERly ridiculous)
ALSO, we played some Harry Potter Scene It? Second Edition, which i haven't played in forever. if u.ho couldn't tell how excited i was...well, i'm sure she could tell. there may have been slight hopping from foot-to-foot, on my part.
AND OMG, SHE'S GOING TO READ ANNE RICE 0_0! it's not the vampire chronicles (sadly i own not the starter books), but i gave her Vittorio...hopefully she will fall in love with MORE beautiful manpires (gaspard) and love anne rice and and and *explodes*
okay, i love everyone. i love life. i love you. i love grilled cheese sandwiches. toodles.
p.s.--they don't have a mood for slutty and it made me a little sad. i just chose naughty and wrote "slutty", even though i'm feeling neither of those things. actually, i'm a little hungry. i wish i could speak in food...and then eat it.
mmm...grapes! the fruit of hope! |

| Some good news |
[Jul. 23rd, 2008|09:26 am] |
I've got Good News and more Good News.
1. Dad is home. He's still coughing a bit, but at least he's mobile and active and I don't have to spend hours travelling to the hospital anymore. Yay.
2. Got hold of Final Fantasy IV DS. I must say I'm very impressed by this remake. The only thing I don't really care for is Cecil's voice but I can deal with it. Kain is hot and Edward Chris von Muir(aka the Spoony Bard!) is super pretty in this new CGI form. The FMVs are also very impressive. I likes this much much! |

| odds... |
[Jul. 22nd, 2008|02:44 pm] |
| [ | Current Mood |
| | awake | ] | I've been having really random dreams. Vivid dreams - who knew the key to remembering dreams was to sleep in 1-3 hour intervals? haha.
If I don't talk about them or write them down, I don't remember them. At first they were bad dreams, full of insecure riddles and signs. Now they're about daily life, sort of. I dreamed that I took Lily to the office at ACE to show her off, and I was walking around breastfeeding, both breasts hanging out (it's one thing to openly breastfeed in front of our parents and close friends - although if I know the friend is uncomfortable, I'll go in another room - but the entire office at ACE...? Uh, no).
Another one involved my mom, and she was taking me and Lily to a doctor's appointment. She slid on ice (going too fast and not slowing down far enough away from a red light), spun around a couple times, narrowly avoided hitting the cars stopped at the light - and I freaked out. I left Mom crying in her car, and I got in someone else's car, asked them to drive me home URGENTLY (it was really important that I get home to David before my mom caught up with us in her car). Lily was gasping. David was at home, and he was going to take us. He didn't like us going with my mom, and he was angry that she wrecked.
A couple weeks ago I dreamed that I took one single hit - not sure if it was a joint or bowl - and I was extremely high. lol, that was a fun dream (although I was glad to be sober when I woke up). I can't imagine smoking now.
Reflections of real life appear in all of my dreams, but they're distorted, warped. It's like walking through a house of mirrors - and it leaves me unsettled.
I'm using a different camera. The quality on my Kodak has went downhill - A LOT - since I sent it back to be fixed. ...grrrr. I was really happy with it last summer, when he bought it for me, but now I'm disappointed.
I'm using a Canon Powershot A75 - older, but takes better quality pictures in the same lighting. It didn't have the USB cord that connects it to the PC, so I ordered one yesterday - and I can't wait to get it! :D The PC has a slot in the front for the memory card, but it doesn't read it? It'll read the Kodak SD card fine, but not the CompactFlash. bah.
It's almost time to feed her. Ashley's coming by later today - we haven't had much company since the first week, and I'm ready. I swept last night, today I cleaned up the entertainment center and DUSTED! ZOMG!
crap I'm leaking. I should probably wear a bra (for the nursing pads) more often, but it's so nice to lounge around without one... plus I don't have a nursing bra, just a sports bra that snaps in the front. Randomly I soak through shirts and don't notice until I have these huge wet spots... my breasts know when feeding time is close. |

I went to the beach this past sunday.....I found it to be enlightening. I learned that I can't swim to save my life and that jellyfish hate me..... If anyone has gone to Sunken Meadows recently, they know what I'm talking about..or you might not depending what part of the beach you were on. At least I wasn't attacked as much as my sister was...she was practically in tears after the first ten minutes. I'm really bored which explains why I'm actually posting. I wonder does anyone know any good vacation spots in Mexico during winter? My summer plans were ruined due to my stupidity. Well, now I have to find something to occupy me for the next half-four or so, well, at least until B gets here and kicks me off. |
